American actor and rapper Earl Simmons, born December 18, 1970 and passed away April 9, 2021. He began rapping in the early 1990s and released his debut album It's Dark and Hell Is Hot in 1998, to both critical acclaim as well as commercial success. The album sold 251,000 copies in the first week of release. The most-sold album by DMX,... and Then there Was X, was released in 1999. The album featured the top-selling single "Party Up (Up In Here). His singles from 2003 "Where is the Hood At?" Commercially the singles from 2003 "Where the Hood At?" and "X Gon"X Gon Ya" were also very popular. The artist was the first to release an album that reached No.1 five times in consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200 charts. In total, DMX sold over 74 million albums worldwide. [8] DMX has appeared in films like Belly Romeo Must Die (with Exit Wounds), Belly, Romeo Must Die (with Belly), Cradle 2 the Grave (with Cradle 2 the Grave) and Last Hour. In 2006, he starred in the reality show DMX: Soul of a Man which was broadcast by the BET cable television network Never Die Alone. He wrote an autobiography of his personal memoirs, E.A.R.L. in 2003. : The Autobiography of DMX. 9 DMX was introduced to the music industry at 14 in 1984 when he beatboxed with Ready Ron. After a stint in prison and writing lyrics, he began to write lyrics of his own and performed at the recreation center in town for kids who were younger than he. While being in prison for carjacking the rapper began to devote a lot of his time to writing lyrics. He also got to know and rapped with K-Solo. After being released in the summer of 1988, he began creating and selling his own mixtapes where he performed raps over instrumentals from other songs and sold them on street corners, which helped him build a fan base locally all over New York. DMX was a guest on The Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show in 1991 alongside Percee P on which they both freestyled. [15"Spellbound" DMX would later make a demo CD which featured "Spellbound" as well as "Critical Condition", "Three Little Pigs", "The Original Author of Spellbound" and "Unstoppable Force". Its style was similar to Big Daddy Kane's and Rakim's but distinct from his later work. In the year 1991, Columbia Records signed DMX as a subsidiary label for Ruffhouse Records. The single, "Born Loser", was his debut single. DMX died of a heart attack caused by cocaine on the 9th of April 2021.
