
Allison Brooks Janney, born on 19 November 1959 [2] in America is an American actress. Her roles on screen and on stage were a highlight of her career , which has spanned over three decades. Janney has won numerous accolades which include an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award along with the Golden Globe Award, and seven Primetime Emmy Awards, in addition to being nominated to win Two Tony Awards. The actress was raised in Boston and born in Dayton, Ohio, Janney received a scholarship to study in the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art after her graduation from Kenyon College. After years of minor and non-credited television and film appearances her breakthrough came in the role of C. J. Cregg in the NBC political drama The West Wing (1999-2006) where she earned the award of four Primetime Emmy Awards. In 2014, she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Margaret Scully on the Showtime period drama Masters of Sex.
